MEDICINAL USES OF CANNABIS (MEDICINAL CANNABIS)
It is no longer news that some states in the United States of America have legalized cannabis but in my own country it is still seen as an illegal substance. The law enforcement agencies associate smokers as hoodlums. Any form of possession can cause serious jail time.
Medical cannabis, or medical marijuana (MMJ), is cannabis and cannabinoids that are prescribed by doctors for their patients. Though it hasn't been tested due to government restrictions, resulting in limited clinical research to obtain the safety of using cannabis to treat disease.
But cannabis is a drug and every drug has a pharmacological effect which may be positive or negative. Here are some of the medical uses of Cannabis.
Cannabis is Used to reduce Nausea and Vomiting during Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a treatment that utilises radioactive rays to kill off cancerous cells. This causes imbalance in the body's homeostasis and can cause patients to throw up and also have nausea.
Improvement of Appetite in HIV/AIDS Patients
HIV/AIDS patients are encouraged to smoke because cannabis induces hunger.
Reduce Chronic Pain and Muscle Spasms
Cannabis is a muscle relaxant because it contains anti-inflammatory agents which are Delta-limonene which is also on citric fruits and Beta-myrcene, which is also in lemongrass and basil.
Other Uses include;
-Reduce sleep disturbances.
-Eating disorders such as anorexia
-Mental health conditions like schizophrenia and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
