No-Till organic Supersoil Mix 2021
With all the talk about organics and we all know that this is the true way that anyone should be growing cannabis or vegetables for that matter. I have been doing hours and hours of research on living soil and no-till soil.
When I was doing the research for the living soil I didn't want to use a pre-packed one. To me, that is not much different than using bottled nutes. The reason for that is the fact that it will be designed to break down. You will need to still be adding your own amendments to keep it thriving.
Now when it came to my soil mix I was planning to make my own recipe with some of the other ones I have read. When it came to picking my ingredients I had no interest in using Bone Meal, Blood Meal, Or Any meal that comes from an animal. I have also chosen to also not to use bat guano or seabird guano. These are not locally sourced and will become from farmed a sourced likely.
When it came to making the recipe I wanted I got some of the information from
KIS Organics
Rollitup
ICmag
I had also used some other sources but these are the main ones I had used. Another really good place that you should watch is the video from mendo dope

Recipe / Ingredients
The Ingredients I have decided on are:
- Sphagnum Peat Moss -
- ProMix HP with Mycrorizea -
- ProMix Vermiculture -
- Earth Worm Castings -
- Alfalfa Meal -
- Kelp Meal -
- gypsum -
- Epsom Salt
- Dolomite lime
- perlite (might change to lava rock)
- coffee grounds

I have not figured out quite the recipe I plan to use but I will mostly be going off the ones that I found and adjusting to the item I have. The end goal from making this switch is to have a no-till living organic soil for my Indoor and outdoor gardens.
it was always my goal to grow No-Till SuperSoil mix. That was not always the case as tho. I had started to see the results that a friend of mine was getting with Big Bud from advanced nutrients. With his results, I made the move to go ahead and buy myself a bottle. Like I had said tho this was never my goal for flowering cannabis was to run salt-based crap.

Compost Mix
This switch, like everything, will be a slow transition. I have quite a bit of super soil I will need to make up. With my compost not quite ready I am forced to buy good Earth Worm Castings. They can be on the costly side as I want really good well-fed earthworm castings. I have found a place that has some of the best I have ever read about or saw. The place called sertiasoils is just an hour away from me.
Our brands stimulate plant growth more than any other natural product on the market. Our soil amendments provide nutrients and minerals that are absorbed easily and immediately by plants. Most importantly, the nutrients and minerals are released slowly which avoids the burning of the plant. Vegan Ingredients, no animal by-products used in the production of VermiCast or Cast and Frass product lines.
When I went to the sertiasoils website this was the message that caught my eye. I am loving the fact that these worms that make these castings are fed the finest ingredients.
Making the SuperSoil Mix
First of all, this supersoil mix was going to take some time. When you make the mix it up it will need to sit to "Cook". As a result, when you "Cook" the soil you will be letting all the macros and fungi, Along with all the other great organisms come to life. We are looking to let them live and thrive for as long as possible before adding the cannabis plant.

The mix I used was enough to fill 12 gallons. You can follow this recipe or use it as a guide rather. As I don't think you can go wrong at making a good supersoil mix.
As a result, this will be some of the best-looking soil you have likely seen. The kelp meal makes this soil smell like something you could eat. Don't eat this tho leave all that yummy goodness for the fungi and macro life.
With the 2 20 gallon pots filled around 3/4 the way, I have gone ahead and given them really good water with R/O water. above all make sure to be using filtered water or natural water. The chlorine in the city tap water will most likely kill any good life you are building. With the conclusion of filling the pots, the final step was to add the cover crop of white clovers.
Awesome write up! I'll have to keep this around for when I get more space and am able to make my own in bulk like this. Otherwise, for now, I'm kind of having to pay a bit more up front for some premixed because I just don't have the space to store/mix this all.
Thanks, I think it is great building your own as you learn what the soil needs. The space thing truly is a problem I always got 2 Rubbermaid totes full of soil around plus worm bins. 🤣🤣 Worm bins are one the best things free castings and less waste.
My next how-to will be starting a worm colony. It is fun and great learning experience
Yeah, after seeing the results of my first organic grow, I really want to learn more about making my own, but in time.
A worm colony would be awesome
That is awesome. Hopefully it can be cost effective for you. I have been thinking about trying to do something like this as well because soil gets pretty expensive. The first bags I had bought were about $50 each and would only fill up like 3 of the 5 gallon pots. I found a different blend of Fox Farm soil that is only $20, so that isn't too bad.
It is costly, I find the start up was costly but now I just buy admendments as needed and if you can get the bags it is even cheaper,
I know alot will add guano but I like have no animal products and worrying about other issue.
Fox farm here to do all 4 20 gallon would cost me upwords of 500-1000 bucks so not cost effective.
Looks like some rich soil, and definitely no-till is the way to go. I worked on a massive ganja farm in Oregon, just me and a buddy, and we had a good season using hügelkultur, basically clearing the forest and burying the cut trees underground to be the base of raised mound.
It worked really well, and with some stuff like this on top of it, that would be a really awesome foundation.

Thanks, Yeah it is super fluffy I love to just put hands in and feel it🤣🤣.
Working on a cannabis farm would be epic, Talk about dream job. Well if it was an organic farm not like this legal crap we got here in Canada
Dude! Great write up. My compost is almost ready, and I’m going make soul out of that
Thanks, Nice compost is great, you will have to let us know when you make yours.
