Help LBRY Save Crypto
If you use decentralized currency, especially LBRY this court proceeding will be of interest to you.
Although it's sophisticated nature makes this whole financial institution hard to grasp, decentralized currency needs to remain decentralized. Even if you hated LBRY, the latter consequences of this court proceeding will effect many other coins in the future, this could be a precedent setting case.
The Securities and Exchange Commission is attempting to make virtually ALL cryptocurrencies in the United States illegal to freely transact and exchange.
We live in a world where:
Big banks crashed the economy in 2008 with almost no punishment
Robinhood sides with the suits against the little guy without retribution
Big tech exploits and abuses us freely
And what does the SEC do? The SEC goes after blockchain and cryptocurrency, which is one of the best hopes the people have to take back control.
The decentralized LBRY network is used by tens of millions of people. The token has clear utility and is not a security. Under the standards established in the SEC vs. LBRY, Inc., nearly all cryptocurrencies would be deemed illegal to freely use.
We call on the SEC to drop this case and establish clear standards for the cryptocurrency industry in the United States.

Crypto is safe with or without them.
Not if this becomes a precedent setting case... Hive is not that different from LBRY aside from the DPOs witnesses which is the only advantage we have in a case like this.
disagree, hive didn't do ico...
Technically they did to steem users, I see your point though, but I usually stand up for any cause like this that encourages a more decentralized economy.
We need a decentralized internet now. 😊
Right I completely agree, lbry wasn't that, afaik it was/is centralized chain just like steem is. Wish them luck though, let's see how it goes
Yes, I wasn't insinuating it was. Just thinking if Gov wants to ban crypto we should just decentralize the web. 😊
We're moving that way fast. The only question is it fast enough. Distributed storage is picking up steam; IPFS is still really weak but it's a start. The biggest thing after that would be decentralized ISPs.
It is decentralized. Just the LBRY INC. Developers are in trouble, the LBC token and the videos will be fine.
https://www.odysee.com is their alt domain, and it's possible to use IPFS to host videos on LBRY/Odysee.
Yay! 🤗

Thank you for the wake-up call, @phusionphil!
@unorgmilitia reminded me about how hollow change dot org is, but its worth noting all this petition could accomplish is making a arguing point for lobby groups in a preliminary hearing.
It creates a precedent of people reacting which is good.
