BEE'S WEED
"Males are useless. Get rid of them"
"But they are beautiful! And they smell so edible!"
"Yes. Yes. Lovely. But you are wasting your time. Listen to me! I keep telling you: No more males."
When I turned around to ask my husband what he thought about my brother's advice he was furiously mopping the floor. "Sorry, Honey, I need to hang the washing and then finish washing the dishes. Can't stop to chat. Oh....and when I'm done I'll take the children with me to turn the compost. You take some time out for yourself"
The air is pulsating with the busy little - girl - honey bees. The incredible sweet scent of blossoming plants attracts butterfly, bird, bee and ..... me!! Capturing that joyous shot of the little foraging creatures on the flowers is a special moment.
Our .... umm .... weeds tower overhead, dripping their pale green pollen. The scent from the male flowering weed is indescribable. How can I not share the enthusiasm of the bees.
Just look at those legs weighed down with the wonderful pollen! There are dozens and dozens of little working bees on the flowers.
Why is it that; so often in nature, the male is beautiful while the female is, well, rather drab. Don't you also find that it is often the rather drab little female who is also hard working while the male is, well, just kept for his procreating purposes. Poor magnificent and undervalued males. Whether Man, beast, bee or weed I love them equally for their unique purpose and beauty.
Those little bees sure are busy @buckaroobaby, we have a few in our garden, not enough though for my liking. Males in some species are much more attractive than the female, like you say, probably for the recreational purposes. Lol! It just isn't fare.love your post, thanks for sharing.
We love our bees. They're a very special insect. It is fascinating watching them. Keeping bee hives we have learned a lot. I'm sure your garden is grateful for the bees too @artywink
I wish we had more bees, they're so beautiful and so necessary too. Go well, have a great weekend.
Merely to attract the female, to procreate, I guess.
Females ( in nature ) are so shallow ;^)
Why not go for a kind man with brains instead, haha!
Nice little write up!
Very funny! Thanks for taking the time for the witty comment
I'm glad to hear that you could see the humor in this :^)
um abraço

In summer, the park that I had the walk in that you comment on is where I go and do what this post is about and photograph the bees, and there are lots.
Hehe yes birds are the same, so often it is the male that is colourful!
Weeds no no no just call them wild flowers 😁
I loved this, I have only seen big bumble bees so far this year and not been able to catch any on film so to speak!
Bumble bees are also lovely. So are wild flowers! So much more appropriate. Who gets to decide what is weed and what is flower? Everything has a unique purpose and beauty. Garden flowers and wild flowers
Exactly and there so many 'garden' flowers that became invasive species and now deemed like weeds, So who indeed decides what is a weed or flower, so I call the so called weeds as wild flowers lol😁
I agree the male is a beutifull plant, but the female flower is something to marvel at.
My camera prefers the flowering male but my first aid kit like the female
And every cannabis plant that you're growing to smoke has just been pollinated in a five square mile area....
Oops. Yeah that's right there are some trade-offs for having males around.
However absolutely they smell like heaven. And if you did everything correctly you're going to have billions of seeds. And then you can spread those seeds all over. Please do so with good stable genetics...
Thank you very much for your photography and pictures I really appreciate it. This isn't something most growers go for or allow so...
Phenomenal job thank you very much.
Smoke weed everyday! Blaze it!
Thank you
You're very welcome and I can't wait to see more of your content!
I found myself looking at a blooming sage full of bees for about half an hour yesterday, so I totally understand your enthusiasm! Bees are fascinating!
They truly are! And when you understand their role and purpose in their colony it is that much more impressive
males are edible YES! :) even smokable :D
So I have been told ;) we pop the male leaves and flowers in salad and use the female in oil for those that need pain control and healing
Well, this is something new for me. I had no idea that male cannabis plants look like that when they flower...
Interesting isn't it! Is truly is part of the weeds that grow where they will on the homestead
